Our Roots:

What began in the early 1980s as a passion project by a small group of Louisiana color guard enthusiasts has since grown into one of the region’s most impactful indoor performing arts organizations. Our story started when these early units first joined the Gulf Coast Color Guard Circuit (GCGC), quickly earning a reputation for creativity, excellence, and heart.

By the late 1990s, the growing number of Louisiana and Mississippi-based units inspired the creation of the GCGC West Division, which soon blossomed into a full-fledged, independent organization. In 2006, the Louisiana-Mississippi Color Guard and Percussion Circuit (LMCGPC) was born.

In our inaugural season, we proudly hosted 8 shows and a Field Day, featuring 50 units from across the region. That season culminated in our first-ever Circuit Championships at Southeastern Louisiana University, with 43 units competing in 12 classes — a remarkable debut. Several units advanced to the WGI World Championships, where they made a powerful mark on the national stage.

For nearly two decades, LMCGPC provided an essential platform for students, educators, and programs to thrive. As we continued to grow, so did our vision.

Our Future:

Now operating as the Magnolia Performing Arts Association (MPAA), we enter a bold new era — one rooted in the same spirit that built our foundation but reaching further in purpose, reach, and impact.

MPAA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the growth, education, and visibility of the indoor performing and pageantry arts — including color guard, percussion, and winds — throughout Louisiana, Mississippi, and neighboring regions.

Our mission is to empower students, educators, and performers through high-quality events, meaningful educational initiatives, and inclusive community engagement. We champion creativity, teamwork, scholarship, sportsmanship, and personal growth — ensuring that every performance is more than just a moment on the floor: it’s a step toward leadership, confidence, and lifelong passion.

Guided by the standards of Winter Guard International (WGI) and driven by the values of excellence, equity, and artistry, MPAA proudly honors our past while paving the way for the next generation of performers, instructors, and arts advocates.

  • As our programs evolved and expanded, we saw the need to reflect a broader mission that includes not just competition, but education, leadership, and community building. The new name — Magnolia Performing Arts Association — honors our Southern roots while signaling a vibrant, inclusive future.

  • We organize indoor performance competitions, offer educational programming for students and educators, and create opportunities for artistic growth through mentorship, workshops, and community events.

  • It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world.

  • Yes. We operate in alignment with the standards and classifications of Winter Guard International (WGI), and many of our participating units go on to compete at the national level.

  • Whether you're a parent, alumni, educator, or arts advocate — we welcome your support! You can volunteer, sponsor events, donate, or join us at performances to cheer on these incredible young performers.
